Happy New Year!

The band has a ton of new songs planned for ’07 but we also need your help! We would like to know your all-time favorite songs. It is important to us that we play what YOU want to hear. The list can have one or one hundred songs on it. If it is Toadilly possible at all, we will play it.  Rock, Country (yes, i said country), Surf, Rockabilly, Punk, Metal...anything to make you want to spill your drink, kick  over the chairs, and swarm up on the dance floor to mosh with reckless abandon. Scratch your list on any handy item... cocktail napkins, monogrammed hankies (unused please), papyrus, tree bark, $100 bills etc. Or you can email your list to: roadtoads1@yahoo.com

Thanks!

We will be announcing our upcoming shows very soon. Several brand new venues are on the horizon as well as some old friends.

NOW!

The following bit is something I’ve always wanted to do.  So I’m a gonna do it.

Ok World, I would like to pay tribute to a truly great singer, musician and the reason the Road Toads (or any band I’ve ever been in) exists…

Dave’s mother, Dolores (Dolly) and her band in mid-1950s.

She left us January 1st,  1966 but her legacy lives on every time Danny or I step onstage.  She never got a chance to see either of us play.

“Thanks for showing me the way mom.

I have always missed you and I always will miss you”

- dave

whoever reads this -  that was just something that needed to be said.

Thank you

The Band Would Like To Take This Opportunity To Thank Each And Every One Of You …Our Best Friends On This Big Ol’ Planet!

The Past Year Was Simply Grand. All The Shows, The Hot Rod Trips, The Laughs. They Were The Best Times We Have Ever Had. Hopefully, With God’s Blessing, We Will Have Lots More To Come In The Future.

But It Goes Way Beyond Just Guitars, Cars And Other Things. The Deep Friendships That Have Blossomed Along The Way Made Everything Worthwhile.  When Danny And I Decided To Start This Band Two Years Ago, We Were Just Hoping To Have A Little Fun. What We Actually Gained Was So Much More Than We Had Ever Dreamed Possible. You Are The Reason For That.

So Many Great Times Shared And Memories That Will Never Be Forgotten. THANK YOU!

Merry Christmas And Happy New Year From The Toads: Dave, Danny, Joe, Colby Kevin And Val.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Family, Friends, Gifts, Turkey, and Mistletoe…oh yeah, the Mistletoe!

In a few days, the official beginning of the Holiday Season will be upon us and the band wants to wish you all the happiest, healthiest, mistletoeinest and rockinest time you ever had! Danny is counting the days till Christmas Break as are all kids his age. The house is being decorated with a million multi-colored lights in the best Clark Griswoldian tradition. Presents are accumulating in their hiding places, awaiting the big day.

One present the band has always wanted to give everyone is a studio recording of us doing some favorite tunes. Well, the waiting is over and work has started on that particular project. We went into the studio last week and began laying down tracks for our first CD!  It is a lot of work, putting a song together piece by piece but that’s how its done and its well worth the effort. You can hear the results of our first recording session by clicking on the “Breakup Song” link on our Website’s Home Page. It will take a minute or two to download but it should come up shortly and you can save the file to put it on your pod or you can play it on your computer. We only have the one song completed so far but we wanted to get what we have out to you as soon as possible. It will give you an idea of grand things yet to come! Let us know what you think. Enjoy!  Also, check out the stuff we have added and changed on the site. After all, we had to make things spiffy for the holidays. So until next time…

Thanks!

Howdy sportsfans. How time flies! It’s almost the beginning of the Holiday Season again. We have a show lined up to kick it all off. It’s at “Cruisin State Street” In Marengo (not the one in Gilberts) on Thanksgiving Eve – Wednesday, November 22nd at 9:00pm. Rumor has it that there will be some specialty food items from our friend the Turkey that night. You will just have to come on out to see what we mean. We do know that it will be another rockin’ and a rollin’ fun Toad Show as always. The band has been hard at work adding more new songs to the mix for your rockin’ pleasure. See You All In Marengo. Gobble Gobble Hey!

Car Show Cruise Season is pretty much done for this year. However, we certainly took advantage of every opportunity to hit the streets. It wasn’t just about the cars though. Just as when we play someplace, our friends are the main reason these events mean so much to us. Without friends, it wouldn’t be the same at all. Thank You for the best times of our lives both on the road and onstage!

Now some serious restoration work will commence on the 72 Chevelle. We will see how much gets done before next spring. The Joe Mobiles are getting spruced up as well. The ‘31 Coupe in particular has a new look that just kicks ass with new wheels etc. Plus, A new motor is coming. We will get some photos up soon.

Till Next Time Then,

The Toads

Wow, it has been along time since writing in this newsletter! An eventful summer. The Toads played a number of new places including a few parties, clubs and Bartlett Summerfest!. The Summerfest show was great. Nearly 1000 people were on hand to see the band in action. Without a doubt, it was our biggest show to date! Thanks to all who made this a very special night for us. Hope you all had a fabulous time. Those who couldn’t make it…you were sorely missed but we hope you can make our next show. We’ll just keep on practicing and let you know where you can see us next. We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary as a band this month! We have done 20 shows in that year! Amazing when you think about that!

School will be starting shortly and Danny can’t wait…yeah, right!

We’ve done a lot of cruisin in the Toadmobile this summer. Actually, all the Toadmobiles have had some miles put on them! Joe’s cars get driven regularly as well. We made a nice road trip to Milwaukee with some other friends and had a blast! First long trip for the 72 Chevelle and she did just fine. Joe brought his 31 coupe.

Another Toad On The Road Again!

The 72 Chevelle (The Toadmobile) is now rockin and rollin! Look for us at a cruise night near you. Plenty of work still to do on her but we are gonna do some drivin’ right now! The dynamic of Danny and Dave will get to wrenching and all that good stuff shortly. In the meantime…HOOO RAWWW! Its Kick the tires, light the fires, strap down and aim it buddy! Pics in the gallery.

We’re getting ready for our next show at CruisinOn 72 in Gilberts on May 20th! Its an all ages show at 9:00pm. Be there! No its not a cruise night as was originally planned but you can still bring your favorite ride if you want…we wont mind one bit! Anyway, its gonna be another night of fun and frivolity as you have come to expect from us. Did I mention BE THERE yet?

We are doing a full blown, big time cruise night show on June 10th. Check out our shows listing for info.

In peace with loud pipes, chrome wipes and pinstripes…

The Toads Go International and Get the Blues etc, etc.

The weekend of May 28 was the busiest in the history of the band. Friday night brought us to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church/School in Elgin for the big Bands For Bleachers benefit! About 160 friends were there to see us and the Lennys. Thank You, Thank You!  Even though Colby was not able to be there, The Show Must Go On and it all worked out fine anyway. Hurry back Colby!  Danny made his debut playing Bass on 3 songs. You will see him mixing it up a lot more in the future on new songs and a few old ones. Kev and Val sang some new songs as well.  Speaking of new stuff, we gotta say it is big fun bringing you some gen-yoo-ine Downtown Chicago Blues. A little Texas Blues too. You can expect more of that kind of thing in the future along with more straight ahead RAWK. Dave might even be persuaded to drag out more of his ancient harps and wail a bit more. So maybe we will change our name to the “Good Ol’ Boys Blues Toad Brothers Review”… or maybe not. By the by, I hear the church cleared $1700 toward a very good cause that night!  We are very proud to have been a part of that!

Saturday saw us hitting the Road to the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort where we appeared at the Rotary Club International’s Convention. It was the band’s first overnighter (yeah, Danny Boy liked that!) What a fabulous hotel!...and the awesome people with the Rotary Club set the stage for what would be an unforgettably fantastic, Toadilly Cool night. A lot of new songs…some learned on the fly that night. We have no idea how many people were there to party but there was a BIG crowd. We want to say HELLO! to all our new friends associated with the Rotary Club. Particularly, Chris, Alan and Mike for giving us the opportunity to show our stuff to a truly International crowd. Thanks to this show, the Toads now have friends in Turkey, Japan, Germany, Australia, and many more countries from the great group of Foreign Exchange Students who came to the convention!  We also learned that teenage girls from Germany, Japan and Turkey LOVE to dance on tables right along with Kim! The adult Rotarians were right in there too coming up with us and joining in on the fun. You all ROCK!!  A BIG TOAD THANK YOU from all of us. Anyone want to share their photos of these events?

So, the weekend was a lot of traveling, loading-in, loading out, setting-up and tearing down, performing etc, but it was all worth it as we had a dynamite time.

Rock n roll all night and party every day!

We now have music files for your downloading pleasure!!

Many of you have asked if there were any MP3 files available of the Toads in action. Well yes, kind of... They are raw recordings of our performances so don’t expect studio quality at all at this point. They are completely unedited. We will be in the studio for some better quality stuff soon. Starting the ball rolling is “After Midnight” from our March 25th Cruisin’ show. You can download it and either hit SAVE when the little window pops up and play it using Media Player or hit OPEN and it will automatically play once it is downloaded. In the future, we will have a streaming audio player online so you can play them right on our website! Happy Listening

JOE GETS A STREET ROD!

Smokin’ Joe showed up at the band meeting Wednesday in a cherry red, ’31 Ford 3-window coupe! Pics will be up soon. She has a sweet 350 even though Joe is a confirmed Big Block lover. She moves right along just fine… A perfect addition to the Road Toad Fleet!  (theres at least 5 cruiseable cars right now in the band) Now if only Kevin still had his T-bucket!  Look for Joe and Kim with the new baby at a cruise night near you! Don’t think theres enough room for all his drums in the rumble seat though. In other news…Work is progressing nicely on the 71 Chevelle’s engine/tranny. She should be ready to rock by the time decent weather is here! The Toad Fleet will increase by still another cool car!  Dave plans to have her at as many cruise nights as possible too! Kevin’s Nova is coming along also with her new 350 and lookin’ better all the time. It has been a busy winter with the band and cars (the way it should be!) We can’t wait to hit the streets (well, when we aren’t actually playing a show somewhere!)  now on to music news…

3-26-06

The show at Cruisin’ Rt. 72 on Mar. 25 was fantastic!  We are so grateful to all who were there …and a LOT of our friends were there!...The best turnout we have had yet at any of our shows and that’s what keeps us going! We know that the staff at Cruisin was a bit overwhelmed by the numbers of people but it all got sorted out and everything turned out Toadilly cool. That place was rockin’ from start to finish!

The Toads are still a fairly new band and are constantly working on ways to improve everything we do. We took another BIG step in that direction by introducing our “Mystery Guest” Val Rosenberg and she rocked the house with “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benetar. It was just a small taste of what she can do and we are absolutely delighted to be working with her as a member of the Toads! We only had the chance for one brief rehearsal with her prior to the show and despite that, she delivered the goods with her fabulous voice in professional style!  Welcome to the Toads VAL!  You ROCK!

In addition to Val’s song (the first of many to come), we did three more new ones for y’all. There’s plenty more to come in future shows!

AT THE MOMENT, THE NEXT SCHEDULED SHOW WILL BE APRIL 28 AT GOOD SHEPHERD IN ELGIN…We expect there may be an additional club show toward the end of April so STAY TUNED!
